Speedometer Digital is a privacy-first GPS speedometer and trip tracker for iPhone and iPad.

Getting started

  1. Open Speedometer Digital and allow location access while using the app.
  2. Choose kilometres per hour, miles per hour, or metres per second in Settings.
  3. Tap Start Trip to record a route and trip statistics.
  4. Use Map for your live route and Trips to review or delete saved journeys.
  5. Open HUD from the dashboard for a focused, high-contrast speed display.

Frequently asked questions

Why is no speed displayed?

Move to a location with a clear view of the sky and confirm that Location Services are enabled for Speedometer Digital. GPS accuracy can be reduced indoors, in tunnels, near tall buildings, or when the device has limited satellite visibility.

Why does the app ask for location access?

Location is needed to calculate speed, heading, distance, and trip routes. The developer does not receive your location or trip history. See the Privacy Policy.

Where are my trips stored?

Trips are stored locally on your device. Speedometer Digital does not provide an online account or cloud sync.

Can I prevent background location use?

The app uses background location only while a trip recording is active, so a journey can continue when the screen locks or another app is opened. Stop the trip when you no longer want it recorded. iOS shows the standard location indicator while background access is active.

How do I delete a trip?

Open Trips, select the saved journey, and use the delete action. Deleting the app removes all locally stored trips and preferences from the device, subject to the device’s normal backup and restore behaviour.

Is the displayed speed guaranteed to match my vehicle?

No. GPS readings can lag or become less accurate because of satellite conditions, device placement, and signal quality. Use your vehicle’s instruments and obey local road rules. Do not interact with the app while driving.
